A number of rental companies offer free membership clubs. These clubs provide rewards for their members which often include many of the following benefits:

• Special coupons and discounts
• Fast online and telephone reservations
• Members-only lines at busy airports
• Rewards points to put towards upgrades or free rental days

Membership clubs include many of the nationally known rental car companies, like Hertz #1 Club, Enterprise Plus and Alamo Membership.

Coupons and discounts you receive for being a member of these clubs may or may not be combined with other coupons. Check with the company before reserving your car. Comparison shop for the best deal around; after all, another company may offer a better deal, even with your membership discount.

Sometimes you can get coupons for rental cars just because you are a member of another club. Travel clubs, like AAA, might offer special rates, discounts and coupons for showing your card at the rental agency.

Find Coupons for Rental Cars

Most national car rental companies have a website that accepts coupon codes. You might also be able to telephone in a reservation and give the code to the agent. Find these codes in the travel section of couponing websites or on sites that are geared towards travel and rental cars. Two places to try are Rental Car Discount and 4Travel Coupons.

Companies might also mail coupons to you. If you have recently taken a trip, signed up with a travel agent or inquired about a particular company, you may find a few coupons in your mailbox in the upcoming months. They are also often included with Valpak mailers and other mass mailings.

Hotel, restaurant and attraction reception areas often have a booth set up with brochures and information on other local points of interest. Check to see if any rental car companies have placed their brochures in the kiosk. A coupon or two might be inside. This is a good place to find local rental companies that might have lower rates, too.

Planning a trip can be hard on the wallet. Save money on your travel by booking all of your necessities at once. Many times, online agencies have partnerships with vehicle rental agencies that will offer coupons and discounts for adding the service at the time of booking your discount hotel and cheap airfare.
