Hit the Pavement

Stores that hold "white sales" are great places to start looking for cheap bed sheets. By venturing to the local mall and visiting J.C. Penney or Macy's, you may pick up some decent quality sheets at great prices.

Often, discount stores such as Wal-Mart or Target will have sheets for excellent prices. Make sure to check the websites for these stores for special coupons and discounts before shopping.

Another avenue to check out is outlet stores or your dollar discount shops. While the merchandise featured may not be top quality, you can usually find queen-sized sheets for under $20, a great price if you're trying to manage a budget.

Online Options for Cheap Bed Sheets

If you don't mind used bedding, you can pick up some really great buys on used sheets on eBay. Often, the sheets aren't even used. With eBay, though, you never know exactly what you're going to pay, and you're going to have to be patient enough to wait for the auction to conclude to find out if you've won the bid.

Overstock.com often has good buys on cheap sheets. The site includes everything from fun, trendy sheets to luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets at bargain prices.

SmartBargains.com offers several options for sheets listed at $50 or below. Everything from flannel sheet sets to Egyptian cotton 600-thread count sheets are listed. Satin sheets are even available for under $50.

Beds in Bags

Consider purchasing an entire ensemble. When you buy a set that includes the comforter, shams, bedskirt and sheets, the cost you estimate for the sheets is considerably less than purchasing them separately. This is a great way to get cheap bed sheets, and, they'll even match your comforter!

One option for finding bargains on a Bed in a Bag set is to check out Amazon.com's online inventory. Most of the sets listed include sheets and pillowcases along with all of the other items, too.

Linens 'n Things has a lot of bed-in-a-bag options, as well. Several items are listed for under $100 which include the sheets in addition to the comforter, bedskirt and shams.

Many times, bed-in-a-bag sets are featured during a department store's big white sale each spring, so plan to start comparison shopping then.

Determining Quality

If you're just looking for something to match your comforter and your bedroom décor, quality may not be quite as important to you. However, if you enjoy the feeling of crisp, cool sheets as you roll into bed each night, quality may be a criterion you have for your cheap bed sheets. While some sheets at the 300-thread count feel just fine, if you're really looking for sheets that feel smooth and silky against your skin, you're going to want to look for a higher thread count. Egyptian cotton is known to be especially luxurious feeling.

Care for Your Sheets

Once you've found your cheap bed sheets, you may be wondering how to keep them looking and feeling great. It's really not that difficult. Just wash them in cold or warm (not hot) water on the gentle cycle. Dry sheets as you would anything else in the dryer, except to be sure to pull them out of the dryer as soon as the load is done. Don't allow any wrinkles to set in by leaving them in the dryer. If you're not going to be putting them back on the bed immediately, fold them as soon as possible after removing them from the dryer.

As an extra nice touch, you may wish to iron your pillowcases.

Sheets are an investment that you will use daily. It's nice when you can find inexpensive bed sheets that complete your bedroom's look or feel.
